BOSTON — The 2nd Annual “Shooting Touch Shootout” basketball tournament presented by Powerade® will take place on December 27th-28thth at the Emmanuel College in Boston, MA. Inspired by the legendary “Boston Shootout”, the holiday tournament will feature elite high school teams from across the country
Among the most intriguing matchups locally is perennial Massachusetts state champion Central Catholic going up against Jersey City, N.J. powerhouse, the St. Anthony Friars. With legendary Naismith Hall of Fame Coach Bob Hurley leading a team that has the nation’s longest winning streak; the Friars set the competition bar very high. The other Massachusetts teams of Mansfield, New Mission, Brighton will face other teams including Christ the King(#1 team in NYC), Wings Academy(#3 team in NYC), Iolani(HI), Amittyvile(NY).
“We wanted to bring the Boston Shootout back to our city and provide one of America’s most prominent showcases for high school basketball,” said Justin Kittredge, Tournament Director and President of Shooting Touch, Inc.”The Shooting Touch Shootout was a huge success last year and will be here for years to come.”
All tournament proceeds go back towards The Shooting Touch Sabbatical Program – referred to as “The Basketball Peace Corps”, this program grants graduating college seniors the opportunity to travel the world and partake in a 10-month international work program using the platform of basketball to help foster education and influence positive social change in third world communities.
