Amar’e Stoudemire to Launch Sports and Fashion Site

by July 27, 2011

NBAers are going to have to find ways to stay busy during the lockout, and it appears Amar’e Stoudemire is planning ahead. Via the NY Post:  “Never mind the NBA lockout. While some NBA stars are talking about playing in Europe this fall, New York Knick Amar’e Stoudemire is taking his talents to the Internet. The Knicks’ 6’10” power forward has struck a deal to launch his own Web site at Big Lead, The Post has learned. The 28-year-old all-star will focus his site on sports and fashion. Stoudemire is expected to provide exclusive content for Big Lead, which was formed as a sports blog nearly five years ago, in exchange for a revenue-sharing agreement and small equity stake in the company. ‘This is definitely a great opportunity,’ Stoudemire, a popular nine-year NBA veteran, told The Post yesterday. Stoudemire is expected to try to boost fantasy basketball, which draws far fewer participants than fantasy baseball and football. The hoops star, who went directly into pro basketball from high school, also says that the site has a strong educational component. ‘From fantasy basketball, it’s a great way for you to learn math without you even knowing it,’ he said. Chris Russo, CEO of Big Lead Sports, said he’s excited about kicking off the NBA venture but declined to provide details around the financial aspects of the deal.”
