Andrew Bynum Hyperextends Right Knee

Bynum slipped on DeJuan Blair’s foot tonight, and went down, possibly taking the Lakers’ title hopes with him. An MRI will determine his fate tomorrow. The OC Register reports: “Andrew Bynum’s troublesome right knee will be an issue again entering the Lakers’ postseason after he hyperextended it early in the second quarter Tuesday night. He is scheduled for an MRI at 11 a.m. Pacific time Wednesday and will not play in the regular-season finale at Sacramento on Wednesday night. The knee is the same one Bynum had surgery on in the offseason to have cartilage reattached. He has continued to have some pain — taking anti-inflammatory medication to combat it — but has played very well since the All-Star break in anchoring the Lakers’ defense and dominating the boards. Bynum stepped on the foot of San Antonio’s DeJuan Blair while running back on defense, overstretching his right leg to the point it buckled and he went down. The NBA playoffs start Saturday.”
