Brian Shaw Bashes Lakers’ Hiring Process

After being passed up for the Lakers’ head coach job in favor of Mike Brown, Brian Shaw was (well, is) understandably upset. He talked about the whole thing on ESPN radio, and iamagm compiled Beto Duran’s tweets on the matter, which you can read below:

Brian Shaw to @710ESPN on how he found out he wasn’t going to coach Lakers “found out about not getting job on ESPN”

Shaw didn’t talk to any Lakers front office until 3 weeks after decision

Brian Shaw “power that were making decisions, felt team needed a change of culture, new voice, head in new direction”

Shaw on being told Lakers needed change “found it peculiar, because in my 12 years gone to Finals 7 x and won 5 championships”

Shaw “felt like 29 other teams in league would love to have that culture, but there’s a change in power in who’s calling shots”

Shaw not blaming Kupchak for lack of communication “only so much he can do. Has people over his head and has to follow directions”

Shaw on Lakers not talking with him, Kobe, Ronnie Lester & others “room for improvement”

Brian Shaw too classy “way it was communicated is part that hurts, but if people in charge had to do it again, they’d do it different”

Brian Shaw on Jim Buss “Did get a voice mail from Dr.Buss which I appreciated. Not spoken at all with Jim Buss”

Shaw “last spoke with Jim during interview. Would like to have heard from horses mouth where I went wrong or thought process”
