Caron Butler Says the Milwaukee Bucks Can Be Really Good

New Milwaukee Bucks forward Caron Butler couldn’t be happier with the trade from the Phoenix Suns. Butler is thrilled to be playing near his hometown, and thinks the young Bucks have a chance to surprise people next season. Per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Racine Journal Times: “The two-time NBA all-star was acquired by the Bucks on Thursday in a deal with the Phoenix Suns and said he has plenty left to give at age 33. ‘I didn’t think it would ever happen, that this dream I had many years ago could become a reality,’ the Racine native said of playing for the Bucks. ‘That’s funny. I’m good for whatever is needed. I’m definitely in great shape and I can’t wait for the season to start.’ […] Last season he averaged 10.4 points and 2.9 rebounds despite playing just 24.1 minutes per game. ‘After I got back healthy, I actually wanted to play more,’ Butler said. ‘I had to accept the role I was given. I felt I was back to my old self. It’s never been hard for me to score. As long as I’m out there, I’ll find a way.’ […] The 6-foot-7 Butler is expected to start at small forward for the Bucks, especially with veteran Carlos Delfino’s status up in the air. Delfino, whom the Bucks signed as a free agent in July, is recovering from surgery for a broken bone in his right foot and may not be ready for the start of the regular season. […] He believes he can make a positive impact on a team that is striving to make the NBA playoffs for the second straight season. ‘I think we’re going to be good, I really think we are,’ Butler said. ‘Adding myself to a team that has a dynamic scorer in O.J. Mayo, to a team that has a talented young point guard in (Brandon) Knight and has good big men like (Larry) Sanders and (Ersan) Ilyasova and other guys like Gary Neal … we can be really good. I think this will be the ideal situation for me and my family.'”
