Celtics Rookie E’Twaun Moore to Play in Italy During NBA Lockout

The deal was close to being completed earlier in the week; it’s now official. Boston Celtics second round pick, the gloriously-named E’Twaun Moore, is off to Italy (with a chance to return once the NBA lockout ends.) From the Herald: “The Purdue guard signed a one-year contract this morning with Benetton Trevoso of Italy’s Serie A. The deal, worth approximately $200,000, includes a clause that will allow Moore to return to the Celtics if the current NBA lockout ends. Agent Mark Bartlestein finally reached agreement with the team after negotiating with four Europeam teams, including another Serie A team – Cimberio Varese. Varese, however, was unwilling to give Moore an escape clause. Indeed, appears that Moore’s ability to secure an escape clause was a coup. Many European teams are unwilling to release NBA-caliber players from their contracts in the event the lockout ends.”
