Conflicting Reports on Mike Brown’s Job Status (UPDATED)

According to SI.com, multiple sources are saying that Mike Brown has been let go by the Cleveland Cavaliers. Brian Windhorst, Cavs beat writer at the Plain Dealer, however, has refuted that claim on Twitter. “This is not true. As of this moment, at least,” tweeted Windhorst in response to a tweet by Chris Mannix of SI.com. Formerly an assistant under Gregg Popovich in San Antonio, in his five seasons leading the Cavs, Brown’s posted two 50 win seasons and two 60 win seasons. In the Playoffs, his record is 42-29,  including a trip to the NBA Finals.

At a press conference Friday afternoon, Cavs owner Dan Gilbert refuted the SI report of Brown’s firing, saying: “That’s not true. We are right now going through the evaluation process. We’re talking to coach Brown, talking to (GM) Danny Ferry, getting all the information.”
