Darko Milicic Drawing Interest from Heat, Nets, Clippers and Bulls

Free agent Darko Milicic may not be out of a basketball job for long, as multiple teams — including the Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Brooklyn Nets and LA Clippers — are said to be interested in Milicic’s services. Per the LA Times and ESPN: “Milicic’s agent, Marc Cornstein, said Wednesday that the Clippers ‘are a team we have spoken to’ about joining. The Clippers have only the veteran minimum of about $1.229 million to offer Milicic. But Cornstein said the money was less of a factor because the Timberwolves must still pay Milicic the $10.898 million remaining on the last two years of his contract before the team used the amnesty provision to cut him. ‘Playing time, team situation will be crucial factors,’ Cornstein said. ‘Because Darko was amnestied, he and I both agree that it’s a crucial year for him.’ […] The Chicago Bulls have had initial discussions with Darko Milicic’s camp, according to his agent, Marc Cornstein. Yahoo! Sports first reported Wednesday that the Miami Heat, Los Angeles Clippers, Brooklyn Nets and Bulls were the front-runners for Milicic’s services, according to a source. Cornstein confirmed the Bulls’ interest, indicating that he was trying to explore different landing spots for his client. Milicic was amnestied by the Minnesota Timberwolves last week. The timing of the Bulls’ interest is curious given they are going to have to decide on Omer Asik’s future in the coming days. Asik agreed to a three-year offer sheet with the Houston Rockets earlier this month and plans to sign it later this week.”
