David Stern on Clay Bennett Leading NBA Relocation Committee

Earlier today, we learned that Clay Bennett, owner of the Oklahoma City Thunder, is the lead chairman of the NBA’s Relocation Committee. In an conference call that took place a few hours ago, David Stern was asked why. His response? “The committee was appointed and he was on it and we hadn’t appointed a chairman. And he has stepped up to become quite involved with the issues with Anaheim, with Sacramento and frankly he’s been doing such heavy lifting with respect to labor relations. And he’s a very willing participant in League board of governor affairs that it seemed like it was good idea to lean on him for this one.”

Brian Mahoney of the AP, who asked the question, followed up asking the commish if Bennett’s position could be a conflict of interest.
