Does Larry Brown Want to Coach SMU?

Larry Brown’s recent itch to get back into coaching has caused rampant speculation, and now it appears Brown has expressed interest in coaching at Southern Methodist, according to The Dallas Morning News.

Although SMU does not seem like a destination that Brown would normally be interested in, the Mustangs appear to be a team on the rise.

From  The Dallas Morning News:

SMU has compiled large funds from boosters to help lure its new coach, who will take on a building project. The Mustangs haven’t played in the NCAA Tournament since 1993 but are gearing up for a move to the elite Big East in 2013.

It’s unclear at this point whether SMU has similar interest in Brown. The Mustangs first target was Marquette head coach and Texas native Buzz Williams, who on Tuesday turned down what was reportedly a very large offer from SMU.

Brown has not coached since resigning from the Charlotte Bobcats in 2010.
