Duke Lands Highly Ranked Forward Alex Murphy

Murphy, a 6-8 forward out of St. Mark’s School, gave head coach Mike Krzyzewski and the Duke Blue Devils a verbal commitment yesterday through his twitter account. The Rhode Island native is averaging 21 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Although he is currently listed as a junior, he is eligible to play at Duke next season. Murphy repeated his freshman year after transferring from The Prout School, therefore making him eligible to arrive in Durham in the fall and forgo his senior year. No decision has been made as of right now in regards to that matter. Murphy chose Duke over Florida, after being recruited and holding offers from Kansas, Arizona, Kentucky, Boston College, Villanova, West Virginia, and North Carolina. His older brother Erik plays for the Gators. Murphy is rated among the top 15 nationwide in the class of 2012.
