Duke Lands Top Recruits Jahlil Okafor & Tyus Jones

It was in the summer of 2012 that Jahlil Okafor and Tyus Jones began making clear their intentions of being a package deal in college. And for a good majority of the time since then, Duke was seen as the early favorite to land their services. Thus, this afternoon, when both simultaneously announced their college decisions live on ESPNU while about 350 miles apart from each other, it came as no surprise when both put on Duke hats (on split screen). The longtime friends had cut their final list of suitors to Duke and Kansas. Tyus Jones, a 6-0 guard at Apple Valley (MN), is highly regarded as the top pure point guard in the class of 2014, while Jahlil Okafor, a 6-10 center at Whitney Young (IL), is hailed as the top big man and overall prospect among seniors. It’s fair to say that the Blue Devils have officially become the early favorites to win the 2015 NCAA title.
