Report: Dwight Howard Could Miss ‘Extended Time’ With Knee Injury

Bad news for the Rockets. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, Dwight Howard could be forced out of the lineup for “extended time” due to an injured right knee, which has been bothering him all season.

Houston Rockets center Dwight Howard will get a second opinion on his injured right knee and could miss extended time, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

As the Rockets embarked on a two-game Eastern Conference trip to Boston and Detroit on Thursday, Howard traveled elsewhere to get further evaluation on his swollen knee, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

Howard was forced to miss 11 games earlier in the season due to a strain that knee, and, according to the Yahoo! report, is now experiencing a buildup of fluid. He’s sat out the Rockets’ last two games and has traveled to get a second opinion.

On the season Howard is averaging 16.3 points, 11 rebounds and 1.4 blocks for the 32-14 Rockets.
