Iman Shumpert Says New York Knicks Aiming for 60 Wins Next Season

The New York Knickerbockers won 54 regular season games before flaming out in this year’s Playoffs. Next season, according to Iman Shumpert, the team has its eyes set on an even bigger win total. Per the NY Post: “How many did we win last year?,’ Shumpert said at his summer basketball camp Tuesday in White Plains. ‘Fifty-four, hopefully we can win 60 next year. We want to build on what we already have. We started off not getting out of the first round. Now we just have to build.’ Shumpert was critical of the Knicks after they flamed out in the second round, saying it wasn’t good enough. Carmelo Anthony and Mike Woodson had different perceptions. As for next season, Shumpert said, ‘We want to lock in on our division, set ourselves up in the playoffs and get into the Eastern Conference Finals. We can’t want anything less.’ The Knicks fell short last year when they lost the Pacers in six games in the Eastern Conference semifinals. Shumpert refused to wax eloquent about the Heat winning the NBA championship last Thursday over the Spurs in a classic seven-game series. ‘They won,’ Shumpert said. ‘I’m not going to talk about LeBron (James), Dwyane Wade, the Miami Heat. I watched it. It was cool and everything. But I don’t want to talk about it.'”
