Jamal Crawford Blames Old Shoes for Left Foot Injury

Many NBA players wear a new pair of sneakers each game. Jamal Crawford, however, has a different system — the LA Clippers’ backup guard wears one pair all season for road games, and another for home tilts. This season, he decided to stick with a single pair for all contests, and it cost him. Per the LA Daily News: “Crawford was injured while making a move during the first half of the Clippers’ loss Tuesday to the Denver Nuggets. He played the next night against the Warriors only because teammate Caron Butler missed the game for personal reasons. […] When a group of reporters approached him to ask before Saturday’s game if he had a new pair which he had taken a new pair out of one of the boxes and boxes a shoe company supplied to him, Crawford said, ‘Yes, I do,’ and held up a shiny new pair. ‘I have a little plate in there, too, to keep it stable,’ said Crawford, a backup shooting guard who is the Clippers’ third-leading scorer with an average of 16.7 points behind superstars Blake Griffin (17.6 points) and Chris Paul (16.7 points).”
