Jonas Valanciunas Has a Left Calf Strain (UPDATE)

by September 24, 2012

UPDATE: The Toronto Raptors say that Jonas Valanciunas is out with a left calf strain. Per the CP: “Toronto Raptors rookie centre Jonas Valanciunas sustained a left calf strain during a voluntary workout over the weekend. The Raptors said in a release Monday the injury isn’t considered serious though there is not yet a timeline for his return.”

The Toronto Raptors’ prized draft pick, Jonas Valanciunas, has a left foot injury that the team has yet to comment on. Per the Toronto Sun: “While the team said a full update likely wouldn’t be coming until Monday, Valanciunas does not appear to be seriously injured, though he was photographed in a walking boot outside the ACC this weekend. Valanciunas, like most basketball players, has had minor ankle issues in the past and walking boots are known to speed up recovery from minor sprains and strains. He was not using crutches and was putting weight on the foot, both positive signs. The 6-foot-11 centre has been playing nearly non-stop since being selected by the Raptors fifth overall in the 2011 draft.”
