Kobe Bryant in Favor of Gilbert Arenas Signing

Gilbert Arenas has worked out for the Los Angeles Lakers, and apparently had a reasonably impressive showing. Kobe Bryant says he’s all for the Lakers taking a chance on the Hibachi. From the Daily News: “The Lakers dodged a few sprinkles Monday, then returned to their practice court for a workout and talked about possibly signing free agent point guard Gilbert Arenas in order to bolster their backcourt for the rest of the season. There was no place like home for the Lakers, who returned from their six-game trip in high spirits. Asked by reporters after practice if the Lakers needed Arenas, superstar guard Kobe Bryant said, ‘It certainly wouldn’t hurt.’ Bryant also said he didn’t have a problem with Arenas’ past, adding, ‘Everybody makes mistakes. He’ll be fine.’ When someone asked what Arenas would bring to the Lakers, Bryant said, ‘Hibachi,’ which is what Arenas used to say after he let his shots go. The 30-year-old Arenas, a former Grant High of Van Nuys standout, held a private workout for Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak on Sunday, and it went very well, according to a league source. A signing isn’t imminent, according to the source.”
