Kristaps Porzingis: ‘I’m Really Happy I Was Drafted By the Knicks’

Kristaps Porzingis dominated the team that passed him over in the 2015 NBA Draft with a game-high 26 points, 12 rebounds and seven blocks Sunday night, leading the New York Knicks to a 118-112 win against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Young Taps says he’s glad he ended up in NY instead of L.A.

Porzingis, 21, shook off a minor knee injury to lead the Knicks to their fourth consecutive road victory.

Per the NY Daily News:

(D’Angelo) Russell – the guard the Lakers chose two spots ahead of Porzingis in the 2015 draft – returned from an injury and struggled with just three points on a miserable 1-of-8 shooting.

He was outplayed by (Derrick) Rose, who missed the previous two games because of a back injury and was explosive from the opening tip. The point guard hit his first eight field goals and finished with 25 points on 12 of 16 shooting. He hit the dagger with 19.1 seconds remaining, a runner to give New York a six-point advantage.

“The Lakers are a great organization,” Porzingis said. “But I’m really happy I was drafted by the Knicks.”
