LaMarcus Aldridge Had Left Thumb Surgery Today

Blazers big man LaMarcus Aldridge finally had that thumb surgery that he’s been putting off for so long today, and he won’t touch a basketball for the next eight weeks. Of course, the Blazers were eliminated weeks ago, so it won’t have any effect on the remainder of the NBA Playoffs, and LMA should be ready to rock for the start of next season. Of course, whether or not that’s in a Portland uniform remains to be seen.

The official announcement on the surgery, from the Blazers team website:

Portland Trail Blazers forward LaMarcus Aldridge underwent successful surgery today to repair the injured radial collateral ligament of his left thumb. Dr. Thomas J. Graham performed the procedure at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio.

Aldridge is expected to be able to return basketball activity in approximately eight weeks.
