Marc Gasol Day-to-Day With a Bone Bruise on Left Knee

The Memphis Grizzlies and their center Marc Gasol received some relief when an MRI exam revealed that the big man was only suffering from a bone bruise on his left knee. Per the Commercial Appeal: “Gasol received the MRI late Sunday night after leaving in the fourth quarter of an 88-75 road loss to the New Orleans Hornets with what was initially diagnosed as a hyperextended left knee. Gasol experienced no ligament or structural damage and is listed as day-to-day heading into the Grizzlies’ road game tonight against the Minnesota Timberwolves. ‘It’s all good. I’ll be back as soon as possible,’ Gasol wrote on his Twitter page. Gasol, who has missed time with an ankle injury this season, is likely doubtful for tonight. He could be questionable for the rest of the week. Memphis has six regular-season games remaining before the playoffs begin, and probably will look to ensure that Gasol returns at full strength. […] Presumably, the Griz will be cautious with Gasol. He became an All-Star for the first time this season and is averaging 15 points, 9.4 rebounds and 3.2 assists. Gasol also signed a four-year contract extension worth $58 million before the start of this season. Meanwhile, the Griz remained fifth in the Western Conference, two games behind the fourth place Los Angeles Clippers. Memphis is still chasing a top-four finish, which would secure home-court advantage in the first round of the playoffs.”
