Marcus Landry Says He Signed With the Los Angeles Lakers

Free agent guard Marcus Landry broke the news on his Twitter account that he’d landed with the Lakers, though terms of the deal aren’t yet public. Per the LA Times: “While he hasn’t been signed just yet, the Lakers were happy with his performance in Las Vegas as part of their summer league squad, where he averaged 15.2 points a game while shooting 42.1% from the field and 37.1% from behind the arc. Landry recently said he’s a fan of Mike D’Antoni’s offense. ‘I’ve shown what I’m capable of doing and doing it in a system, that’s a wonderful system,’ said Landry, who briefly played for D’Antoni in New York with the Knicks. ‘It’s proven that the system works, if you stick with it.’ The Lakers need shooting — last season Landry hit 42.8% from behind the arc through 35 games with the D-League’s Reno Bighorns. With 12 players under contract, including the partially-guaranteed deal for rookie forward Elias Harris, the Lakers are also expected to sign draft pick Ryan Kelly (48th). Assuming the Lakers give Landry a camp invite, he’d likely be fighting for the 14th spot — with no guarantee the Lakers keep more than 13 players.”
