Pau Gasol Sidelined for 3 Months After Knee Procedure

The Los Angeles Lakers announced that forward Pau Gasol’s knee procedure went well, but that he’ll be off the court for the next three months. Gasol seems encouraged following the minor surgery. Per the LA Daily News: “Everything has gone well!’ Gasol tweeted Thursday. ‘Now I’ll have to rest my knees and start with the rehab. Thanks everyone for your support!’ Gasol plans to have another procedure next week with Dr. Steve Yoon of Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Group in Los Angeles, which will entail the Lakers forward receiving stem cell injections to help stimulate regeneration in his tissue. Gasol underwent the so-called ‘Fast Technique’ procedure Thursday, involving a probe going into both of his knees to eliminate scar tissue without damaging the healthy tissue. Gasol missed 33 games due to various ailments, including knee tendinitis that sidelined him for eight contests in early December. Gasol, who averaged 13.7 points on 46.6 percent shooting and 8.6 rebounds, said the injury lingered throughout the season. Gasol has one more year worth $19.3 million left on his contract.”
