Phil Jackson Reportedly Wants to Add Scottie Pippen to His Staff in LA if He Returns

by November 11, 2012

Still no official word on whether or not PJax is returning to coach the Lakers, but the Daily News reports that if he does, he may be joined on the sideline by an old friend: “[Phil Jackson] interviewed with the team on Saturday. Although he was not offered the job, sources said, it’s his if he wants it. That’s because the Lakers are focused solely on hiring Jackson, the 11-time champion who led L.A. to five titles during his two tenures in Los Angeles. Jackson, 67, has expressed interest in taking over a team with four potential Hall of Famers, although he is said to be examining some of his usual concerns, including having say in personnel matters and whether he would have to make all of the Lakers’ road games. Jackson is looking at adding Scottie Pippen, his former Chicago Bulls star, to his staff, sources said. Bernie Bickerstaff is expected to coach the Lakers on Sunday against the Sacramento Kings. Bickerstaff became the interim coach after Mike Brown was fired on Friday with a 1-4 record.”
