Quincy Miller: Diary No. 3

November 24, 2010

So you probably already know I made my college choice: I’m going to Baylor, and I’m feeling real good about it. Honestly, it was a pretty easy decision. Once I made up my mind, I just knew where I wanted to go. If you want the details about my decision, check out my Basketball Diary in the new issue of SLAM — I wrote all about it in there.

We did the announcement on ESPNU, and of course, I got a lot of feedback on Twitter — I probably got like 500 messages in the first five minutes. It’s been all good from Baylor fans, of course, but honestly, even fans of the schools I didn’t chose have been cool. Duke fans were really, really classy, and I respect them a lot. I was actually supposed to go down there for Midnight Madness, but once I knew where I wanted to go, I just thought I shouldn’t waste my time or theirs. And Kentucky fans were really classy, too.

Of course, there were some haters. I got some that were like, “How much is Baylor paying you?” and crazy stuff like that. I can tell you Baylor isn’t paying me a thing. I just feel like I’m not a follower, I’m a leader, and I’m motivated to go in there and make my own legacy, play for a great coach and a great program. I’m just excited to be part of Baylor hoops.

Anyway, this is a quick one, just to let you know what’s up. I’ll be back in a couple of weeks to let you know how my Westchester team is doing this season. Happy Thanksgiving!
