Celtics Trade Austin Rivers to the Clippers (UPDATE)

UPDATE: A three-team trade between the Boston Celtics, LA Clippers and Phoenix Suns is complete, and Austin Rivers will now play for father Doc in Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Clippers today acquired guard Austin Rivers as part of a three-team trade with the Boston Celtics and Phoenix Suns the team announced today. In exchange for Rivers, the Clippers sent forward Chris-Douglas Roberts and a 2017 second round draft pick to the Celtics and forward Reggie Bullock to the Suns. The Celtics received forward Shavlik Randolph from Phoenix in the trade.

 

Rivers, 22, was the 10th selection in the 2012 NBA Draft by New Orleans and appeared in 165 career games with the team (33 starts), averaging 6.9 points, 2.3 assists and 1.9 rebounds in 21.4 minutes before being traded to Boston on Jan. 12. This season, the 6-foot-4 inch Rivers has made 35 appearances (three starts) for the Pelicans and is averaging 6.8 points, 1.9 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 21.4 minutes per game.

Here’s some good news for the Rivers family — father and son will reportedly become co-workers in Los Angeles.

The Boston Celtics are said to be trading Austin Rivers to the LA Clippers, after acquiring him in the recent Jeff Green swap.
