Season Over for Spencer Hawes and Marc Gasol

The Kings and Grizzlies have lost two of their bigs with a handful of meaningless games left on the schedule for both teams. The Appeal reports: “The second-year center will not play again this season. Griz brass has decided to allow Gasol to rehabilitate his partially torn neck muscle. Memphis has eight games remaining, but Gasol’s pain threshold is low. He sat out most of the second half Wednesday night during the Grizzlies’ overtime loss to the Dallas Mavericks. The 7-foot Spaniard aggravated the injury after a collision with Mavs center Brendan Haywood and was unable to reach for rebounds or shoot.”

From the Bee: “When Spencer Hawes limped off the court at Conseco Fieldhouse, he knew his knee was hurting. But he didn’t think he had played for the last time this season. Hawes will miss the Kings’ final six regular-season games after an MRI revealed a deep bone bruise in the back of his left knee and an irregular signal in the joint line.”
