Steve Nash Hurt His Back Carrying Bags

You know you’re getting old when …

Los Angeles Lakers guard Steve Nash aggravated his back Wednesday while carrying some luggage around, and was forced to miss a third consecutive practice.

The 40-year-old’s health concerns are making head coach Byron Scott’s job tougher.

Per the OC Register:

The injury will almost certainly keep Nash out of the lineup for Thursday’s preseason game in Anaheim against the Utah Jazz, and raises serious concern about his durability for a 19th NBA season.

“It’s a concern,” Coach Byron Scott said. “From my standpoint, I’ve got to be able to figure out if he’s going to be able to play every game or not. Or if he’s going to be able to play every other game, or which games can he play?”

Scott said he is not yet at the point where he is preparing for life without Nash, but will be if things don’t improve. “In a couple of weeks if the situation is the same,” Scott said, “that’s probably the way I have to go.”
