Sun Take Tina Charles with First Pick

Like all drafts, the WNBA Draft has been full of surprises, but Tina Charles going No. 1 wasn’t one: “On Thursday, a team reinventing itself after missing the playoffs for the first time in history, used their first-ever overall pick to take the draft’s only true made-to-order player, UConn center Tina Charles. But that’s not all. Before the second round was done, the Sun had also traded for Nebraska’s Kelsey Griffin, another consensus first-team All-American, and drafted Kansas guard/forward Danielle McCray (seventh overall) and LSU sharpshooter Allison Hightower (second round, 15th overall).”
