T-Mac Makes His Season Debut

McGrady’s debut wasn’t spectacular or anything (3 points, 3 boards in seven minutes of action), but the good news is that he didn’t break anything. So, he’s got that going for him: “Of course, it took Trevor Ariza taking a weird swing at DeMar DeRozan, a brutal stretch of games and a night and a day for Rick Adelman to reconsider his original thinking, but McGrady made his season-debut, playing 7:44 in the first quarter, and will continue in that role for at least the next five games. Adelman had wanted to wait until after the stretch of four games in five nights. But there probably won’t be a lot of time spent practicing next week, and then the Rockets come back the day after Christmas for another back-to-back. Once McGrady was cleared medically, it always was a basketball decision, and so Adelman made it for basketball reasons. Heading into a stretch of games that inspired his rant about NBA scheduling, he thought he could use the extra body. It turns out to be a good time to trim some minutes from Ariza and Shane Battier.”
