Tim Thomas Hopes To Return To Mavericks

Tim Thomas’ career wasn’t supposed to play out this way. But it has. And he’s not ready for it to be over yet. Marc Stein reports: “Tim Thomas is eager to return to the NBA after missing most of last season to take care of his ill wife. He’s eager to return to the Dallas Mavericks, too. Thomas’ agent, Bob Myers, told ESPNDallas.com that he and the club are working toward a new deal that would resume the 33-year-old’s career in Dallas. Although nothing has been finalized, Dallas does have two roster spots open and a need for frontcourt depth. ‘We’re hoping to get something nailed down to bring him back there,’ Myers said Saturday. The Mavericks were excited to land Thomas last season to add experience and a proven perimeter touch to their bench. But Thomas requested and received a lengthy leave of absence so he could care for his wife and their children through Tricia Thomas’ serious health issues.”
