Tony Parker Thinks Manu Ginobili’s Breakout Game Is Coming

Manu Ginobili has been flat-out bad during the NBA Finals, scoring a total of 17 points and shooting 34.4 percent from the field. But Tony Parker says it’s only a matter of time before Ginobili has a big game. From the San Antonio Express-News: “Tony Parker and Tim Duncan spoke after Game 4 about trying to boost Ginobili’s confidence. Duncan said Ginobili needs to be more aggressive, and he’s got a point. As bad as Reckless Manu can be, Passive Manu might be the worst Manu of all. For Parker, it’s only a matter of time before the Argentine gets back on track. ‘I’ve been playing with him for a long time,” he said. “I just know he’s going to have a big game soon.’ Indeed, for all his postseason struggles, Ginobili has had at least one big outing in every series so far. But Popovich conceded that it’s less a matter of inducing a turnaround through tactical means than Ginobili doing it on his own. ‘He’s having a tough playoffs,’ Popovich said during a conference call on Friday. ‘He hasn’t really found a rhythm or found his game yet. He’s obviously not as confident as usual. He knows full well he hasn’t performed the way he’d like and the way he’s used to. But it’s simplistic to say, ‘What are we going to do to get him going?’ He’s either going to do it or he won’t.'”
