UConn Women Win it Again

It wasn’t pretty, and it included a shocking eight-point halftime deficit for the heavily favored Huskies, but in the end, Geno, Maya and Co. did it again.

As the New Haven Register summarized: “Tournament Most Outstanding Player Maya Moore had 18 of her game-high 23 points in the second half and the Huskies overcame a late barrage of 3-pointers from Stanford to win back to back national titles and improve to 7-0 in national finals.

Sophomore guard Caroline Doty, who struggled throughout the Final Four with her shooting, hit two clutch 3-pointers in the final 5 1/2 minutes as UConn finished 39-0 for the second straight season and extended its NCAA Division I women’s basketball record streak to 78 games.”
