Warkentien is Knicks’ Player Personnel Director

This bodes well for the team, particularly because it shoots down rumors of Isiah Thomas re-joining the Knicks‘ front office. From the New York Times: “Mark Warkentien, a former executive of the year, has joined the Knicks as director of pro player personnel, the team announced Saturday. Warkentien will report directly to Donnie Walsh, the team president, and will advise him on matters including draft prospects and trades. ‘I think he’s a good basketball man,’ Walsh said Saturday. ‘He’s a guy that I can bounce basketball ideas off of and that’s been out there running teams.’ Warkentien worked for the Denver Nuggets from 2005 to 2010, the last four years as vice president for basketball operations. He was fired last summer amid a wholesale front-office purge.”
