Warriors to Reportedly Interview Lionel Hollins and Stan Van Gundy for Head Coach Position

The Golden State Warriors have made it very clear they’d like to hire Steve Kerr as Mark Jackson’s head coach replacement, but with the Knicks the clear frontrunners to bring Kerr aboard, it appears the Dubs have begun to search elsewhere. Enter Lionel Hollins and Stan Van Gundy. Per the NY Post

Lionel Hollins is the latest candidate to enter Golden State’s radar, as he will interview with the Warriors at the Chicago predraft combine that starts Thursday, an NBA source confirmed.

It’s an indication Golden State is losing hope Steve Kerr will spurn the Knicks and consider the Warriors.

Hollins is one of the most prestigious candidates available and likely would have been a Knicks target before Phil Jackson came aboard. The Warriors are also slated to speak to Stan Van Gundy.

Sources have told The Post Kerr favors the Knicks over the Warriors because of Jackson’s presence, but contract details have not been worked out. An NBA source believes a Kerr resolution will occur this week.
