Eastern Washington Coach Guarantees Upset Win Over Georgetown

You’re probably in the midst of fine-tuning your 2015 NCAA Tournament bracket right now—figuring out which upsets to pick and which teams to pencil into the Final Four in hopes of collecting a large pile of cash jelly beans by winning your office pool. You might even be looking hard at the 4 vs. 13 matchup in the South region, wondering if Eastern Washington can pull the upset over Georgetown tomorrow night.

Well, if you ask Eagles head coach Jim Hayford, it’s a 100 percent lock that Eastern will shock the Hoyas. Hayford guaranteed his team will win during an interview with CBS Sports Radio on Wednesday.

From The Washington Post:

The Hoyas are looking to avoid losing to a double-digit seed in the NCAA tournament for their sixth consecutive appearance, a streak that began in 2008 with a loss to — that’s right — Stephen Curry and Davidson.

Eastern Washington will be a trendy upset pick in NCAA tournament pools this week and Eagles coach Jim Hayford is certainly confident in his team.

“We’re going to win, talk again, Jim,” he said Wednesday at the end of an interview with CBS Sports Radio’s Jim Rome. (“If you’re still in a pool you can fill it in, you want to put the Eagles in,” Hayford said earlier in the segment.)
