Although some of the top programs in all of college basketball, like Arizona, Villanova, Syracuse and Kentucky, were in his final list of suitors, Lonnie Walker, a 6-5 guard from Reading, PA, ultimately ended up choosing the Miami Hurricanes on Wednesday morning when he announced his decision via Twitter.

“First off, I would like to thank my family and friends for supporting me through this long journey, but it’s time for me to take this next step and move on and commit to University of Miami,” he wrote on Twitter. “I feel like it’s the best for me, on and off the court and will make me a greater individual on the court. Thanks to all the schools that recruited me, but I’m officially a Cane #GoCanes”

A five-star prospect in the Class of 2017, Walker is touted as the “highest-ranked” Miami signee since ESPN began its recruiting database in 2007. He is listed as a top-25 prospect in most national rankings.
