Nike to Host Jordan Brand Classic & First EYBL Session in NYC During Same Weekend of April

Nike announced today that it will take over NYC during with its elite youth basketball initiatives in April of 2016, as it prepares to hold the 15th annual Jordan Brand Classic on Friday, April 15 at Barclays Center. Then over the following two days, Saturday the 16th and Sunday the 17th, the Swoosh will hold the first session of the 2016 Nike EYBL (Elite Youth Basketball League), the brand’s prestigious grassroots travel club team league, at a place to be determined in front of college coaches.

NIKE, Inc. through a partnership between Jordan Brand and Nike Basketball, will host an entire weekend of the top high school basketball talent April 15-17, 2016 throughout New York City.

 

Tipping off the weekend and celebrating its 15th year, the Jordan Brand Classic, presented by American Family Insurance, will return to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Friday, April 15th with games showcasing the top boys, girls and International players. These future stars follow in the footsteps of some of the greatest in the game including Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, LeBron James and Kevin Durant. A special musical performance will also be held following the games. Previous performers have included Nicki Minaj (2015), Macklemore & Ryan Lewis (2014) and Drake (2013).

 

Nike’s Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL) will open its sixth season on Saturday, April 16th and Sunday, April 17th. Over 40 of the top travel teams from around the country and Canada will compete. The EYBL will have four regular season sessions around the country, followed by the EYBL Finals at the Nike Peach Jam in N. Augusta, SC in July. Dates and locations will be announced in early 2016. EYBL Session #1, New York will be certified for college coaches to attend and will provide a unique platform for the future rising stars.
