Arizona Lands Five-Star Senior SG Rawle Alkins

Brooklyn guard Rawle Alkins announced on Monday night live on ESPNU his intentions of joining the Arizona Wildcats in the fall. The 6-5 senior also considered UNLV, NC State, North Carolina and St. John’s. The New York City native won three consecutive city titles at Christ the King Regional HS between his freshman and junior year. Due to having played some varsity games as an eighth grader in Florida, he was deemed ineligible to compete in New York for his senior year and thus transferred to Word of God Christian Academy in Raleigh, NC, last fall.

“Just the relationship I have with Coach [Sean] Miller and Coach ‘Book’ Richardson,” said Alkins live on tv. “One thing when I took that college visit that really stuck with me was the fact that winning was the only option with them. Coach Miller just really stresses winning. That really stuck [with] me.

“He’s just kind of looking at me as being the next leader on that team — an impact starter, impact player. I feel like the Pac-12 Conference, ‘ll probably try to dominate that conference. You know, just being the best me that I can be.. I’m going to be one of those impact freshman guys that you guys will be talking about next year.”
