The look of the ZX Flux BDGA was inspired by Stanley Kubrick’s science fiction film, “2001: A Space Odyssey.” The all-black upper, which conveys an appearance similar to outer space, is constructed in a densely woven nylon. Just as the darkness of space is contrasted by the steel grey of spaceships, the black upper is contrasted by the off-white outsole (with a speckled black panel). The yellow on the leather lining and outsole, as well as the orange highlights, are a nod to the space-suits in the movie.
Overall, the BDGA exudes an aura of calmness—not unlike the ambience of Kubrick’s masterpiece. It is priced at $120 and will be released at Bodega, Boston on July 18, with No. 42 Paris, No. 74 Berlin and selected Consortium retailers following on July 25.
