LeBron 12 Release Date Delayed Due to ‘Cosmetic Issue’

We’ll have to wait a little longer than expected to see the Nike LeBron 12 at retail, it turns out. According to Nike, the LeBron 12 launch is being delayed past its original release date of October 11 due to what the brand is calling a “small cosmetic issue” on the sneaker. Here’s the full statement from Nike as it appears on the company’s website:

Product quality is a priority for Nike. Due to a small cosmetic issue with some of the LEBRON 12 shoes we have delayed the initial retail launch that was scheduled for China on October 1, and the global launch that was scheduled for October 11. We will communicate an update on the retail date as soon as possible.

For now, that’s all we know. What could the “cosmetic issue” be? ESPN is theorizing it has to do with the No. 6 needing to be changed to a 23. So far, Nike has yet to set a new release date, but keep it locked to SLAMonline for the latest.
