Amare Has Nash’s MVP Vote

by Marcel Mutoni

You could make a compelling argument that ever since Shaq got traded from Miami to Phoenix, Amare Stoudemire has been the best player in the League.

With apologies to Chris Paul, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James, but Amare has been on an entirely different level over the last two months, and thanks to his superhuman efforts, Phoenix has an outside shot at ending up with the best record in the West.

Perhaps not surprisingly then, teammate Steve Nash thinks STAT should be in the running for the League’s top individual honor.

“I pass the torch to STAT,” two-time MVP winner Steve Nash said, referring to teammate Amaré Stoudemire. “He’s deserving.”

Nash, who also likes Chris Paul’s chances, was quick to point out that the award should go to the player whose team ends up on top.

Sorry Amare, though you’ve been incredible of late, you simply entered the conversation a little bit too late.

As the season winds down, and with the Lakers having arguably the easiest road ahead among the top MVP contenders, most seem to agree that it remains Kobe’s award to lose.
