With the Brooklyn Nets experiencing a virus outbreak with seven players entering protocols, the team used one of their hardship deal exceptions to sign Langston Galloway. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first reported the deal. Galloway had just signed to play with the College Park Skyhawks, the G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks to a 10-day contract.

James Harden is the biggest name on the Nets long protocol list, including Bruce Brown, Paul Millsap, LaMarcus Aldridge, DeAndre’ Bembry, and Jevon Carter. The Nets recently only had the minimum number of players to play the Toronto Raptors, who they defeated 131-129 thanks to a monster effort by Kevin Durant and Patty Mills.

The hardship exception allows NBA teams to exceed the mandated 15-man roster limit when at least four players are sick or injured for longer than two weeks. For a team to be eligible to participate in a game, eight players must be eligible to play.
Last season, Galloway played 40 games for the Phoenix Suns while averaging 4.8 points and 1.1 rebounds while shooting 42.4 percent from the three-point line. Previously Galloway has played with the Knicks, Pelicans, Kings, Pistons, and Suns since going undrafted in the 2014 NBA Draft.
