Carmelo Anthony: ‘I’m Not Shutting it Down for the Season Yet’

It seems inevitable that, at some point this season, the New York Knicks will be forced to shut down their gimpy All-Star forward.

Carmelo Anthony and his injured left knee aren’t ready to call it quits. Not yet, anyhow.

Anthony has sat out the past three games, and is expected to miss at least four more. He pleads with frustrated Knicks fans to be patient with their putrid, 5-32 squad.

Per Bleacher Report:

“As you may know already, the season has been kind of a roller coaster so far, due to injuries, trades, a lot of emotions flaring, losing friends, just a lot of things that’s going on,” Anthony said.

“I know there’s a lot of fans out there that are kind of upset, or kind of down on the team, kind of down on the players right now, kind of down on the situation. But I will say that it’ll get greater later. Just be patient with the team, with the organization, with the journey, with the plan, what we’re trying to create, what we’re trying to accomplish. […] Greatness doesn’t happen overnight. That’s something that we’re trying to build here.”

“Today, I just want to let everybody know a little bit about me, and what I’m going through with my injury,” he said. “I’m all right. I’m not shutting it down for the season yet. Just trying to take some time to get it right. […] As far as me, I’m rehabbing, I’m around the clock getting treatment, therapy, trying to get right, trying to do what I gotta do so I can be at my greatest.”
