Carmelo Anthony on Lakers: ‘I’m Coming Here With A Championship On My Mind’

The Los Angeles Lakers have had an extremely active offseason, adding a ton of talent around LeBron James and Anthony Davis through trades and free agency. One of their biggest signings has been Carmelo Anthony, who even at 37 years old is a productive player.

In a recent press conference, Anthony spoke to Kyle Goon of The Southern California News Group and other members of the media about why he chose the Lakers.

“I’m coming here with a championship on my mind,” said Anthony.

It appears at this point in his career, the one accomplishment Anthony lacks is an NBA title. He alluded to this in the press conference.

“This is the one thing I’m missing,” said Anthony. “This is the one thing that keeps me up at night, that motivates me because I don’t have it.”

Last season with the Portland Trail Blazers, Anthony averaged 13.4 points per game while shooting 40.9 percent from deep. On a deep Lakers team, he’ll provide veteran leadership and scoring which will be key for a deep postseason push.
