Former WNBA Star Chamique Holdsclaw Indicted, Faces Up to 65 Years in Jail

Back in November, Chamique Holdsclaw was taken to jail after allegedly shooting up the car of her ex-girlfriend (Jennifer Lacy of the Tulsa Shock.) The 35-year old former WNBA star has been indicted on two counts of aggravated assault, criminal damage in the first degree, two counts of criminal damage in the second degree and possession of a firearm. If Holdsclaw is convincted on all counts, she could be put away for a long, long time. Per the AJC: “WNBA player Jennifer Lacy, 29, who described herself as Holdsclaw’s former girlfriend, told police in November she was working out at a church on Ponce de Leon Avenue when Holdsclaw approached her and said she wanted to put some items in Lacy’s car. As Lacy drove from the church, she smelled gasoline inside her vehicle and noticed that Holdsclaw was following her, according to the police report. Lacy said she drove to a friend’s house on Hemphill Avenue, at which time Holdsclaw got out of her car with a baseball bat and began smashing the windows in Lacy’s Range Rover, the report said. Holdsclaw allegedly smashed the driver’s side window, a rear passenger’s window and the rear window before pulling out a gun and firing a shot into the SUV. A 9mm shell casing was found in the area, but no one was injured. Holdsclaw surrendered and was booked into the Fulton County jail, where she stayed for two days before being released on $100,000 bond.”
