Isiah vs Marbury: Round X

by Marcel Mutoni

Admit it: You missed reading about these dudes. It’s OK, you can tell me. I won’t judge you.

The Knicks shocked everyone by beating the Pistons in convincing fashion at the Garden yesterday, but these being the Knicks, the surprising win was overshadowed by what seems like growing beef between Isiah Thomas and Stephon Marbury. Again.

Steph, who’s upset (surprise!) with his reduced role on the team, sat out with what the team called a sore left ankle, but Zeke didn’t seem all that convinced that his point guard was hurt.

“He’s not playing tonight,” Thomas said before last night’s stunning 89-65 Garden rout of the Pistons. “So we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it if he does decide to play again.”

“I didn’t know he wasn’t on the bench,” Thomas said after the win in another dig.

Palpable tension in the locker room; protests outside the arena; an incompetent but seemingly untouchable coach; improbable victories. Ho hum, just another day in Knickville.
