Ja Morant Exits Game On Wheelchair After Ankle Injury

The Memphis Grizzlies matched up against the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night and although they came out with an overtime win, they lost their best player along the way due to injury.

Late in the second quarter, Ja Morant landed on his ankle and quickly limped off the floor. Shortly after, he left the court on a wheelchair.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN later reported that Morant’s ankle did not reveal a fracture but the team will await results of an MRI as soon as Tuesday. At that point, we should know more about Morant’s status and how long he might remain off the floor.

Regardless, this will be a huge blow for the Grizzlies. While he came back to join his teammates on the bench wearing a boot on his foot, it’s uncertain what will come of this injury. For a team like the Grizzlies who are looking to make the playoffs after just falling short last season, they will need Morant to come back as soon as possible.

Morant had averaged 36.0 points and 8.0 assists through his first two games of the 2020-21 season, while shooting .583 from the floor.
