Jason Kidd Wants to Play for D’Antoni

The Mavs played the Knicks in Dallas last night, and gutted out a tough win over the struggling New Yorkers. What everyone wanted to discuss, though, was Jason Kidd’s impending free agency.

The soon-to-be 36-year old point guard says he wouldn’t mind suiting up for D’Antoni and running the show in Gotham. From the NY Daily News:

Kidd, who has told close friends that he would love to finish his career in New York, did not rule out the possibility of signing with the Knicks in July when asked about his future Thursday.

“Yeah, why not?” Kidd said. “I’m going to look and see. Coach (Mike D’Antoni) is great. And I got to know him a little bit this summer (at the Olympics).”

In a previous lifetime, Kidd would’ve been absolutely perfect for D’Antoni and his system. Now, of course, Jason isn’t anywhere near the player he used to be, so D’Antoni might not even want him when free agency rolls around. Sad, really.
