Jerami Grant to Hit Free Agency, Turn Down Option

After an impressive postseason performance, Denver Nuggets forward Jerami Grant will gauge the free agent market. Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports reports that the 25-year-old will not exercise his player option.

The versatile forward averaged 12.0 points per game and shot .389 from beyond the arc in his first year with the Nuggets. He was acquired from the Oklahoma City Thunder last offseason, in exchange for a first-round pick.

Grant could have earned $9.3 million in 2020-21 had he picked up the option but even in in a stifled market like the one free agents face here in 2020, a significant pay raise seems more than likely.

The Nuggets will have Grant’s Bird rights and will thus be able to exceed the cap to bring him back on a bigger and longer deal but he’ll also be able to sign elsewhere.
