Knicks Have Interest in a Carmelo Anthony Reunion

Half a decade ago, Carmelo Anthony was one of the most electric players in the entire NBA and was the face of the New York Knicks. His final season with the team in 2017, he averaged 22.4 points, per game and was an NBA All-Star.

Since then, he’s bounced around the League and has become more of a spark plug role player. However, as he enters free agency this summer, he could be headed back to New York.

As first reported by Jordan Schultz of ESPN, the New York Knicks are expected to pursue Carmelo Anthony in free agency. Knicks President Leon Rose has a great relationship with Anthony from their together at CAA.

Anthony has spent the past two seasons in Portland with the Trail Blazers. During the 2020-21 season, he averaged 13.4 points per game while shooting 40.9 percent from beyond the arc.

For a team like the Knicks who were just a few pieces away from being a real threat in the Eastern Conference, Anthony would be a great step in the right direction.
